The Most Popular Nascar Racing Games

NASCAR 2008 is the most recent version of NASCAR’s auto racing games manufactured by EA Sports.  It can be played on a Playstation 2, Playstation 3, or Xbox 360.  The cover features Tony Stewart.  The 2009 game is in progress and is expected to come out in June of 2008.  It will display

Jeff Gordon.  The 2009 game will be EA sports’ twelfth edition of the game.

With NASCAR 2008, you get to take control, get behind the wheel, and take off towards the NEXTEL Cup championship.  Learn as you go, picking up new skills from race to race.  Following each race, you can modify how your car handles, allowing to be ready to take on any race and any track!  You can share your setup options with the online world and play in live races against up to 15 other players.

EA believes in banning booze in their games.  Subsequently, no alcohol-related graphics are seen in the game.  Any time an alcohol sponsor would typically appear on a racer’s auto, it is replaced by the driver’s name, team, or an alternate sponsor.  Examples of these substitutions are as follows:

  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. drives a Chevy with Budweiser on it.  This has been replaced by Dale Earnhardt, Inc. logos.
  • Kurt Busch has a Dodge will Miller Lite—replaced by a Kurt Busch logo.
  • Other drivers include Jamie McMurray, Clint Bowyer, David Stremme, and Robby Gordon.

The 2008 version comes with quite a few notable features and enhancements.

  • Cutting edge graphics bring you racing, track, and crashes that are as real as it can get.
  • The game takes real physics into account when you’re racing that car around the track.  This forces the player to think like the pros en route to chasing the NEXTEL cup.
  • Career mode is a feature making its debut in the ’08 installment.  While in Chase mode, you finish challenges which let you earn special contracts and licenses.  This unlocks some pretty awesome specialty cars.
  • You can now play against up to 11 racers at once.  You can really show ‘em who’s boss!
  • NASCAR ’08 has another interesting feature—VTV (Vehicle Telemetry Visor).  This feature lets you keep an eye on your car’s location on the race track and telemetry so you can get feedback in real-time.
  • If you don’t have time for a full game or are just getting started out, you can work on specific skills by playing mini-games.  Challenge yourself to work on spin recovery, bump drafting, turn apex, and other important skills.

At Amazon.com, you can buy the game for as low as $21.49 (PS2; other platforms available on Amazon).  Wal-Mart carries the game (for PS2) for $27.88.  Take a ride on the fast track…get your copy!
