Nascar Memorabilia: For All The Nuts

Are you a NASCAR nut?  Do you love the sights and sounds of the California Speedway, or the excitement of the Chase for the Championship?  Do you think back to years past and the exciting history of auto racing?  If so, you’d probably be interested in collecting some NASCAR memorabilia.  Whether it be over the World Wide Web, a garage sale, or a sports outlet, collectibles are a terrific way to show your support for your favorite drivers and the terrific game of auto racing!

Obviously, there’s nothing you can’t find online.  NASCAR memorabilia is no exception.  eBay is probably your best bet for finding anything from a bobblehead to wallpaper.  Other auction sites are also available.  Beyond online auctions, NASCAR.com has an online store.  You can purchase various types of media (audio, videos, DVDs, or books).  You can also get NASCAR games, trading cards, custom memorabilia, and more.  Whatever source you go with over the Internet, here are some quick tips to keep you covered:

  • Any memorabilia product should come with a certificate of authenticity.  If yours doesn’t, be very wary of keeping it.
  • Your product should have a return policy if you decide you are dissatisfied once you buy.
  • As with any purchase online, make sure the website is reputable and secure.  If you have to put in your personal information (name, address, phone number, credit card information, etc.) and the site isn’t an https site (which means the connection is over a Secure Socket Layer), it’s probably a good idea to find a different seller.
  • Bargain shop.  Surfing the Net is easy.  Don’t let yourself buy the first item you see.  Make sure there’s not a better deal out there first.  Of course, they say you get what you pay for.  Don’t go for the cheapest price, but you don’t have to buy the most expensive one, either.

If you don’t have a computer, or don’t like to buy things over the Internet, don’t worry…there are plenty of other means to obtaining NASCAR memorabilia.  There are sports shops out there whose sole purpose is to sell sports collectibles.  You’re bound to be able to find something related to auto racing in most of them.  People also frequently sell off old memorabilia at garage sales.  If you’re interested, the best thing to do is keep an eye on the classifieds section.  If an ad mentions that they’re selling NASCAR collectibles, jump all over it!

Keep in mind that with most collectibles, the higher the quality, the higher the price.  Also, items that are high demand, low supply tend to sell for more.  Meanwhile, collectibles that are manufactured in bulk supply are less expensive.  You’re likely to find a lot of great stuff.  In fact, you could wind up becoming a full-blown collector!
